It’s a beautiful time to travel Africa.
Africa is a continent with many cultures, languages and traditions. It’s also home to some of the most vibrant festivals in the world.
The best time to travel Africa is during its annual festival season which runs from May through October each year. During this period you can experience everything from traditional music festivals like Ghana’s Kakum National Park Arts Festival (May) or Rwanda’s International Jazz Festival (July) through to more contemporary events such as South Africa’s Joburg Theatre Festival or Mozambique’s Maputo International Film Festival (both October).
From the Savannah Festival in Kenya to the Calabar Carnival in Nigeria, here are six festivals not to be missed in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda this summer.
Africa is a big continent and it has many countries. In this article, we will focus on four of them: Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda. These countries have many festivals that you can attend this summer.
The Savannah Festival in Kenya (July 19-22) is one of the most important events on the country’s cultural calendar. It’s a time when people come together to celebrate their heritage through traditional music performances and dances. You’ll also get to see how artists from all over Africa showcase their unique styles at this annual event held near Nairobi National Park.

The Savannah Festival, Kenya
The Savannah Festival is a three-day celebration of the Maasai culture. It’s held in Narok, Kenya and takes place in June. The festival is family-friendly and has activities for children such as:

Beads, beads and more beads.
Beads are a popular item at festivals, and they come in many shapes, sizes and colors. Beads can be used to make jewelry or decorate costumes. They can also be attached to the body with glue or string to create a colorful decoration. Beads can even be threaded into hair braids!
The Calabar Carnival, Nigeria
The Calabar Carnival, Nigeria
There are few things that can compare to the experience of attending the Calabar Carnival in Nigeria. This celebration is widely known as one of Africa’s largest carnivals and attracts visitors from all over the world. The festivities take place during October or November each year and are a celebration of African culture and traditions–especially those related to its rich history of slavery.
Nigerians come together at this time each year to celebrate their heritage, relax after months spent working hard on farms or fishing boats off coastlines around Africa’s third largest city (and capital) Lagos, which lies less than 250 miles away from Calabar City where this festival takes place annually since 1963 when it was first started by Chief Nnadi Okonjo-Iweala (wife). Today she still serves as patroness for this event which now attracts over 1 million people every year despite having only 3 days left before ending tomorrow night!
Kenyans do it large.
Kenya is a beautiful country with a rich cultural heritage, known for its hospitality and natural beauty. It’s a great place to visit in the summer when temperatures are milder than those of other countries in Africa.
